Departure Methods Used At Weddings

Many bridal couples are unsure of what happens at the end of their reception, or how they leave their wedding at the end of the night.
The information provided here is simply the recommended options of Top-Notch Entertainment Pty Ltd.
These are the main options available in order of popularity:
Farewell Circle / Goodbye CircleYour MC asks the guests to form a large circle around the edge of the dance floor, your DJ or band plays quiet music whilst the Bride and Groom make their way around the inside of the circle saying goodbye to all the guests and thanking them for coming. |
Guard Of Honour / Wedding ArchThe Guard of Honour sees your MC ask all the guests to form 2 lines from the edge of the dance floor to the exit door, they then turn to face each other and raise their hands in front of themselves creating an arch with the person opposite them. Your DJ or band plays a suitable uplifting song, the Bride and Groom hold hands and run through the arch whilst everyone lets out a huge cheer as they depart. |
Casual DepartureAt a given point in time during the reception, your MC asks your DJ or band to pause their music and takes to the microphone asking the guests to look over at the doorway. The Bride and Groom just happen to be standing there, hand-in-hand, waving goodbye to all the guests. They turn and walk out (not returning to the reception), departing to a huge cheer from their loved ones — use this method with caution! |
Discreet DepartureAt a given point in time during your reception, the Bride and Groom make a discreet exit from the reception. It's just as if they have both gone outside for a photo, but are actually never seen again at their reception. Whilst this departure method may seem appealing to some couples, it generally leaves many of the guests either in tears or quite bewildered. For the elderly grandparents, your parents and even your aunts and uncles, saying goodbye is one of the most important moments of the day for them. Wishing you both luck as you start your journey as a newly married couple is the highlight, and to have that moment taken away from them without notice can be very distressing — use this method with extreme caution! |
